Who We Are

Everything we do is rooted in family.

Our Story

Jared’s love for horses began early, when he and his siblings started riding as therapy for his brother’s cerebral palsy. What started as healing quickly turned into passion. Jared found his stride, rode fast, and before long, caught the rodeo bug. He went on to earn dozens of youth and high school buckles and saddles across Ohio.

Life took a turn toward family sooner rather than later, and when Jared and Kirstin began raising their own, rodeo took a back seat. In 2016, they moved to Alabama to be closer to family, planting roots that would eventually grow into something much bigger.

In 2019, the horse bug bit the next generation and from that point on, there was no turning back.

After years of commuting 30 to 60 minutes just to ride and care for their horses, and a decade spent living in Fairhope, the family made the move to 20 acres in Elberta. The change was immediate and meaningful. Their kids now run free—yelling, laughing, hunting armadillos, practicing goat tying, dummy roping, and steer wrestling on any given night of the week—no longer limited by town living.

Here, days begin and end with sunrises and sunsets that remind us why we chose this life.

5 Cactus Ranch is more than land and fences…it’s a place built on experience, hard work, and the belief that horses have a way of bringing families together. We’re proud to share our knowledge of rodeo and our little slice of heaven with other families, whether you’re just starting out or simply need a peaceful, well-cared-for place to keep your horses while living in town.
